1. What is the Screenwise Internet Trends panel?
The Screenwise Internet Trends panel is being conducted by Knowledge Networks for Google.  The goal is to measure how U.S. adults and teenagers (age 13 or older) use the Internet.

2. What is Google going to do with the information that is going to be gathered from me?
All of the information being gathered will be kept in accordance with applicable privacy policies.  It will be used to understand how adults and teens age 13 or older use the Internet at home to help improve products and services offered by Google and our partners. Please review our Privacy Policy for more information about how your data will be used.

3. Which companies are conducting the Screenwise Internet Trends panel?
The project is being conducted by Knowledge Networks, a research company, for Google.  

4. What if I don't use the Internet very often?
No matter how much or how little you use the Internet, your participation is important to this study.

5. What do I have to do to participate?
The first step is to complete the online questionnaire on the previous page to determine if you are eligible to participate.  If eligible, you will need to use Chrome and install a browser extension.

6. What are you measuring on my computer?
The browser extension will safely transmit to Google's secure servers information about your Internet use (for example, what websites are visited).  The browser extension will collect detailed data, including personally identifiable information, about Internet browsing activities ("Panel Data").  Panel Data will be transmitted directly to Google.  Google will combine and merge Panel Data with information stored in Google's DoubleClick cookie and information stored in other cookies on Panelist devices or in Panelist browsers.

7. Will you be able to see my bank account numbers or credit card information?
We will not be able to see information you enter into forms on any properly secured website you visit but we will be able to see the url, for example https://www.bank.com.

8. What do I get for participating in the Screenwise Internet Trends panel?
We have found that many panel members enjoy participating and knowing that they are helping to improve our understanding of Internet usage.  In addition, once you download the browser extension, that will share your daily web-browsing activity with us, you'll get a $5 Amazon.com Gift Card code. Every three months, you'll get additional $5 Amazon.com Gift Card codes for staying with it.

9. Can my sister, friend, neighbor join also?
All residents of the United States, age 13 or older could be eligible to participate in the Screenwise Internet Trends panel.

10. How do I enroll?
Enrolling is easy.  Just click on the Continue button at the bottom of the Home page to determine if you qualify to enroll in the Screenwise Internet Trends panel. All participants must agree to the Screenwise Internet Trends panel Terms and Conditions and carefully review the Screenwise Internet Trends panel privacy policy before enrolling.

11. What is this going to cost me?
Participating in the Screenwise Internet Trends panel will not cost you anything.  In fact you will be rewarded for every three months you help us.

12. How long am I expected to participate in the Screenwise Internet Trends panel?
We would like you to participate in the Screenwise Internet Trends panel during the next 12 months.  However, you can withdraw at any time. 

13. Is Knowledge Networks going to sell my name/address/email address?
Absolutely not.  Your contact information will never be sold by Knowledge Networks to advertise or market products or services to you.  Please review the applicable Screenwise Internet Trends panel Privacy Policy for more information about how your data will be used.

14. Will Google see all Internet usage, or is there a way to turn it off temporarily?
For participants who enable the browser extension, Google may see the searches performed and the websites visited by users. You can pause data collection by selecting "Pause" in the extension.  Just click the icon in the upper right of your browser and click "Pause."  Alternatively, you can use a browser other than Chrome. Google will not see searches or websites visited while you are browsing in another browser.
